Privacy policy

Effective August 30, 2026 · Publisher: Marius Lindenmeier

The short version

Pairo transfers files directly between the Android folder you choose and the Mac shared folder you configure. The developer does not operate a file-transfer server and does not receive your files, credentials, folder metadata, or usage activity.

Information Pairo accesses

Pairo accesses the Android folder selected by the user and files shared explicitly through Android’s share menu. It stores the configured Mac’s local network address or hostname, share name, optional subfolder, username, domain, selected folder reference, sync settings, completed free-transfer count, and paid entitlement on the Android device. The SMB password is stored using Android encrypted preferences.

How information is used

Selected file contents, filenames, sizes, and modification times are processed to compare the two folders and perform requested transfers. SMB credentials are used only to authenticate to the Mac selected by the user.

Collection and sharing

The publisher does not receive, sell, or share files, credentials, folder metadata, or usage activity. Files move directly between the user’s Android device and user-configured Mac and are not routed through a publisher server. For Google Play’s Data safety form, transmitting files off the Android device to the user’s Mac is classified as collection even though the publisher never receives them.

Purchases

The optional Pairo Unlimited purchase is processed by Google Play. Google may process purchase and payment information under Google’s privacy policy. Pairo receives and stores the purchase state needed to unlock the feature. The publisher does not receive card details.

Network security

Pairo disables SMB1 and requires SMB 2.1 message signing. The current app does not require SMB payload encryption. Use Pairo only on a local network you trust or through a trusted VPN, and protect the Mac account with a strong, unique password.

Retention and deletion

The publisher retains no user files, credentials, or usage data because none of it is received. Clear Pairo’s storage or uninstall it to remove its saved configuration and purchase-state cache. Files already transferred remain in folders controlled by the user. Questions or deletion requests can be sent to the contact below.

Permissions

  • Files and folders: granted through Android’s folder picker or share menu.
  • Network access: used to reach the user-configured Mac and, for purchase handling, Google Play.
  • Foreground service and notifications: used only when Live Sync is enabled.

Children and changes

Pairo is a general-audience productivity utility and is not directed to children. This policy will be updated before a release changes Pairo’s data practices.
