Apple Photos doesn’t automatically import files from a folder. This open-source Automator workflow bridges that last step, entirely on your Mac.

Ready in four steps.

    Make Photos keep its own copy

    In Photos → Settings → General, enable “Copy items to the Photos library.” This is required before the inbox can clear safely.

    Unzip and open the workflow

    Open Pairo Photos.workflow in Apple Automator.

    Choose Photos Inbox

    Select the folder Pairo created inside your shared Mac folder.

  4. 4
    Save and test once

    Allow Photos access, send one test image, then open it in Photos after the inbox copy disappears.

The inbox only clears after Photos says yes.

Automator is built into macOS. The readable workflow runs only when a file arrives, imports it with Apple Photos, and leaves failed files in Photos Inbox for recovery.
